Purpose:
The Public Safety Advisory Committe (PSAC) serves to support the Osseo Police & Fire Departments in the protection of the health and safety of Osseo residents, businesses, and visitors, and the general welfare and property of all. It is a place for discussion on local policy and decision-making as well as advocating for those concerned about their neighborhoods and their tax dollars. Involvement in advising the City Council on public safety issues. Actively promote Osseo citizens being additional eyes and ears of our public safety team throughout the community.
Membership:
The Public Safety Advisory Committee (PSAC) is comprised two Osseo residents, two Osseo business owners or employees, and two members of the City Council, along with the City Administrator, Police Chief, Fire Chief, and/or Public Safety Coordinator. The PSAC Committee is supported by the Osseo Police and Fire departments and the city’s legal consultants as assigned.
Essential Functions:
• Be familiar with the City’s public and employee safety plans, ordinances, programs, policies, and operations.
• Attend appropriate committee meetings
• Review agenda and supporting documents prior to meetings
• Strictly adhere to conflict-of-interest policies
• Strictly adhere to Open Meeting Law and the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act
Additional Duties:
• May attend conferences or training sessions to keep up-to-date on trends and issues in Public and Employee Safety
• May conduct field trips, either as a Committee or individually, to view properties or land as related to public safety issues or policies being considered by the Committee
• May attend other meetings, such as City Council meetings, as deemed necessary
