The Osseo Fire Department has a long history battling fires and saving lives. It was established in 1915 and originally covered many miles around Osseo, including Maple Grove, Brooklyn Park, Corcoran, and Dayton. The first Fire Truck is still at the station – a 1929 REO.
Today, the department serves the City of Osseo and protects the life and property of residents, businesses, and visitors. The department provides a full range of fire suppression, rescue, hazardous materials response, fire education, and fire code enforcement. When fully staffed, there are 28 volunteer paid-on-call firefighters, a full-time Chief, and an Assistant Chief. In addition to fighting fires, our members are trained as First Responders for Osseo’s medical emergencies.
The Fire Department also conducts many educational and outreach events throughout the year including the Easter Egg Hunt, Osseo Lions Roar Days, and the Minidazzle celebration.
If you are passing by and see firefighters working at the station in a non-emergency situation, please stop by and say "Hello." We love to give tours of the trucks and the station, demonstrate the equipment, and answer any questions you may have.
